“Groove Daddy” Eric Hall has enjoyed a
wide an varied career as a drummer and percussionist
spanning all styles and idioms from classical and country
to rock and reggae. Some luminaries Eric has work with
over the years include jazz drums with Dave Brubeck,
congas with Barry White, and African drums with Stevie
Wonder. In recent years, Groove Daddy has primarily
focused on performing indigenous American styles of
music including jazz, blues, surf and rockabilly.
Eric’s formal education includes study at Eton
university, North Carolina School of the Arts and the
University of North Carolina, along with private lessons
with Ed Shaughnessy. As a music educator, Eric operated
a full-service percussion studio for ten years and was
on the teaching staff at both Greensboro College and
University of North Carolina.
Eric is an active member of Musicians Union Local 47
in Los Angeles. In addition to the L.A. Rhythm Kings,
Eric maintains an active performing and recording schedule
with numerous artists. Look for Groove Daddy with Swing
Syndicate performing jump blues, swing, jazz and standard
in the Los Angeles area. Eric resides in Burbank with
his wife Sandra and daughter Amanda.
